My Bucketlist

Share

Me coming out of a Cenote in MexicoThis is my constantly-changing, ever-expanding bucketlist.  I’ve been lucky, I accomplished a lot of the things I dreamed of when I was younger.  I could probably go back through all my journals and lists and recreate my bucketlist from the first one I wrote out in my late teens, however, I think it’s a good idea to start this where I am today.

Given the world we live in right now, there are things on this list I might never get to do, but I’m leaving them on here.  Because just like my senior year musical goal, something might change someday or there might be some magical peace in the world and I can go see the Pyramids in Giza, Egypt or visit the museums in Damascus, Syria.

  • Visit every Disney theme park in the world (I’ve been to three of them: Disneyland, Disneyworld and Hong Kong Disney)
  • Attend San Diego Comic Con    Completed July 2016
  • Travel to Ankor Wat in Cambodia
  • See the Pyramids in Egypt
  • Go to the top of the Eiffel Tower
  • Visit Myanmar and specifically the Bagan Temples
  • Kiss the Blarney Stone
  • Hike to the top of a Mayan pyramid.  El Castillo at Chichen Itza used to allow people to to walk to the top, but alas, no more.  So any Mayan pyramid will do. Completed October 15, 2017.  I hiked to the top of the main pyramid at Coba in Mexico.  Crazily enough, I also hike to the top of the main pyramid at a little known Mayan ruin called Ek’ Balam just three days later.  Amazing.
  • Travel to Cusco and Machu Picchu, Peru
  • Go to Easter Island
  • Visit Damascus, Syria
  • Travel to the Cappadocia Caves in Turkey
  • Visit the Leshan Giant Buddha in China
  • Go to the Borobudur Buddhist Temple in Magelang, Indonesia
  • Visit one of the rock churches in Lalibela, Ethiopia
  • Go to the Ajanta Caves in India
  • I’ve always wanted to go to Petra in Jordan.  It has been on my bucketlist since I was a teenager.  It was where I was supposed to go for archaeology field school in college, but couldn’t go.  I will get there someday
  • I want to see the Acropolis and everything else I can possibly visit in Greece
  • Drive the UFO highway to Rachel, Nevada with my dad
  • Travel to Cuba
  • Visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in Australia
  • Attend an Anthony Robbins “Date with Destiny” weekend (Ok, so I recently attended a NAC event in Portland, Oregon and Tony was the headline speaker.  Four hours!  What an amazing experience!)
  • I would love to participate in an archaeology dig in Kenya or Tanzania.  I know the Leakey family still has digs there you can pay to do
  • Spend a week (or more) at an ashram
  • And I would really love to spend even just a day or two in Dharamsala, India and hear the Dalai Lama
  • And along those lines, I would love to attend a weekend or week long event with Lama Surya Das and Pema Chodron
  • Though challenging, I would very much like to do a Bearing Witness retreat.  This year they are doing a meditation retreat at the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau
  • Write a book – I’m currently working on this one (even if it never gets published)
  • See Matt Nathanson in concert every single time I can This is constantly ongoing.  We’ve seen him 11 times so far
  • Walk out on the see through walkway over the Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon (one will be enough)
  • Try and spend the night at the Stanley Hotel (I recently visited the Stanley Hotel, which was amazing)
  • Sing karaoke at a Supernatural Convention
  • Hear Keith Urban sing “Stupid Boy” live at concert
  • I would like to lay my eyes on Sia and hear her in concert
  • Eat at the Blue Bayou restaurant at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride either at Disneyland or Disneyworld (or both)
  • Spend a day at Cedar Point – I love roller coasters
  • Hear Rob Thomas sing “Bed of Lies” live
  • Go Squatching
  • See a rocket take off from Cape Canaveral in Florida
  • Run the marathon along the Great Wall of China
  • Take a trip with Virgin Galactic or SpaceX
  • Meet Gillian Anderson
  • Find out where my grandfather was stationed during World War II in Austria and visit there
  • Be a contestant on the Amazing Race
  • I don’t know how difficult this is, but I would love to attend some events at an Olympic Games
  • Hike the Stairway to Heaven on Oahu (Considering it’s closed now and there are fines for hiking the trail, I don’t know if I ever will, because I’m a law abider, but if they ever change the rules….I’m there)
  • Drive on the Guoliang Tunnel Road in China
  • I don’t know if I could do this (it’s so dusty and crazy there), but I’ve always wanted to attend Burning Man
  • I would like to hike at least part of both the Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails
  • Stay a night at the Mermaid Inn in Rye, United Kingdom.  This is on the improbable list because this place is haunted and it’ll take a lot of courage for me to do this
